Johnny,

I actually have two copies of Swingers on DVD(Had to buy the Director's cut with extra bonus features when it was released too. Couldn't help it.)

Yeah, it does beg being discussed regarding its various elements. Jon and Vince as struggling artists going through the Hollywood grind (did you get turned down for Goofy???), as well as the fact that it's an L.A story.

If you ever spend anytime in Southern Cal, you can relate to the culture that's depicted in the film....

 -------

Mojito,

Great point about the level of friendship, and also, most guys are not "Approach-Machines" including the so called "Naturals."

take care

Just finished watching it, following your recommendation; really entertaining. Found your analysis valuable and spot on!

Besides all the good stuff about body language, tonality and attitude two other things stroke my attention. The first one is the level of friendship Trent displays towards Mike. He knows Mike is a great guy, just facing tough times, and keeps believing in him, without judging him. Friends can definitely make or break you. The second thing is that you don't really see the two natural guys doing much of cold approaches, they look for eye contact and other indications of interest from the girls.

BTW, the last girl that Mike interacts with is called Lorraine and not Maureen :)

Swingers.

Absolute fuckin' classic.

Don't know about the dating analysis but I'm on attractwomenanywhere and I figure it's gotta be about that, right? ;)

Did you get the screenplay book with the 10 rules? Those are pretty funny too dude. I think Favreau wrote those up.

Now how about an analysis on it as Jon and Vince as struggling artists? Now THAT's fucking interesting :)

In fact, I'm planning to watch it this weekend after I just finished downloading it. And yes, I actually bought a copy on DVD a while back but I can't find it.... Cameron... did you steal it bud?

Cheers.

I just watched Swingers about a month ago, for the first time in ten years, and yeah, it's a definite movie to learn from.

Another must-see movie (and Cameron, you should write a review of this): "The Tao of Steve."

Precious movie indeed :-). I saw it long time ago as a teenager, laughing at everything Mikey did wrong, and yet i did the same or even worse much later.

Definitely worth seeing. Cool comedy, imho.
