Sub5tance,

It's amazing what happens when you bring back to focus things that you're passionate about, and actually enjoy doing. Suddenly, you also find that drive and natural motivation, and it replaces indecision, uncertainty, and wishy-washy behavior (all very unattractive.)

Jon, we'll just have to always disagree on that issue. lol

I wouldn't give Jordan any points on Charisma just as I wouldn't give any charsima points to Kobe Bryant or Tiger Woods. I think you have to separate actual charisma from an image built through "MARKETING By Nike."

Just saw a few min of Tiger Wood's press conference on TV today. ZERO Charisma, came across like a robot without a soul. The guy couldn't inspire you to buy an orange on the side of the freeway if he didn't have his marketing machine planning his every move....

Jerry, glad you got something out of it.

Great Article.

Except when you called Magic the greatest basketball player of all time when anyone but the most delusional of Lakers fans would say it's Jordan...

Plus Jordan was more charismatic...

And Made more money.

And probably banged more whores :P

Very Very great article, very well written.

This has given me a unique perspective on myself and inspires me to keep passionate about what I believe in.

@Sub5tance 3rd paragraph

I second that notion

Good article and when it comes to your comment about passion and certainty, which comes from a genuine place, I couldn't agree more. I see this in my job - I'm a manager in a company. Sometimes I chair a meeting/conf call and I am realy confident in what I am saying and have it all worked out - and the people in that meeting, even if they are senior to me, hang on every word.

Other times, I'm less prepared, confident, interested or passionate about the subject - or just tired!, and the opposite happens - I'm just sidelined.

And I've noticed it with women too ... in a social setting, if you talk with authority and purpose about something, with a strong opinion or passion, then suddenly women start reacting differently to you (in a good way).

And I wonder if this is why 'routines' seem to work (in the short term). I'm not advocating their use (been there, done that, got bored of it all) - but I think that for many people, *planning* what they are going to say and having the confidence and certainty that can come with doing so makes a big difference to how people perceive, and react to them.
