th<\/sup> Floor please\u201d and he\u2019d use his extreme expertise and years of training to push a lever that\u2019d take you to your desired floor.\u00a0 The brokenhearted security guard complained that they don\u2019t have elevator operators anymore.\u00a0 Modern elevators have buttons that stop on the proper floor and the passengers operate the machinery without the supervision of the glorious elevator-operator.<\/p>\nBut man, could that guy relate to the troubles of the common man.\u00a0\u00a0 He ate junk food, had no health benefits, and felt out of place.\u00a0 Maybe he ought to be running for president because he is even more in touch with the people that the hockey mom governor.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She gets the best health benefits for her entire family, a mansion to live in, and large walk-in closets where she can hide her Hitler statues. \u00a0Not to mention\u00a0a nice salary and\u00a0the power to govern a state of the Union.\u00a0 How can she relate to the common man?\u00a0 The poor bastard security guard who worked for 7 dollars an hour with no healthcare whose dream job has now become obsolete is the real deal.\u00a0 He is in touch with the people and the masses. He can sympathize far better with the middle class, the lower class, and the simply broke. \u00a0He ought to be in Office. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Again, this is where the democrats fail.\u00a0 No one shows ball.\u00a0 Wouldn\u2019t be refreshing if for once someone got on stage and said,<\/p>\n
\u201cHey, answer me this:\u00a0 What if your father had to have open-heart surgery?\u00a0 Do you want the best person for the job?\u00a0 One of the most qualified surgeons from one of the most prestigious university programs with a track record for success?\u00a0 Or would you have your plumber whose father needs surgery too, do it??\u00a0 After all, your plumber can sympathize best since he is going through the same woes you are. \u00a0While we are it, why do you still have your clothes on? \u00a0Didn’t I see you in a Bukake video??” \u00a0 \u00a0(OK, so I added that last thing for added effect, but you have to admit, it’d be cool!)\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Republicans are masterful of framing themselves in an appealing manner.\u00a0 8 years ago, they put some jeans and a saw in George W. Bush\u2019s hands walking on ranch in Texas, chopping wood like the rest of us.\u00a0 Wow, Dubya is a throwback to the 1800s.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, they guy grew up and the New England area, and went to Yale.\u00a0 He knows as much about the ranch life as he knows about foreign policy, which seems to be as much as Dick Cheney knows about not shooting your friends while hunting deer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But it worked.\u00a0 (Ok, not counting the Florida debacle.)<\/p>\n
The democrats fail to capitalize on this.\u00a0 They also are afraid to take a stance.\u00a0 Everyone wants to garner support and win votes so badly that they waver on positions on an issue between breakfast and lunch.\u00a0 What they don\u2019t realize is that, historically, the most popular people have always been those who had passion for a certain cause.\u00a0 That means you have to be willing to fail while sticking to that cause.\u00a0 If\u00a0 you\u2019re against the war in Iraq, then you ought to stick with that despite what the polls show.\u00a0 No one is willing to fail for his or her ideals.\u00a0\u00a0 This isn\u2019t to imply that Obama is the hope people have made him to be, but wouldn\u2019t it be cool if he showed some balls? \u00a0<\/p>\n
Two weeks ago, I was watching the 4th<\/sup> quarter of the game between the Denver Broncos against the San Diego Chargers.\u00a0 After scoring a touchdown at the end of the game, Denver had a choice: Kick an easy field goal (to get 1 point) to tie the game, or go for two points which was far riskier and harder to accomplish.\u00a0 Under the circumstances, Denver Coach Mike Shannahan saw fit to roll the dice and go for two points to win the game, instead of opting for overtime.\u00a0 If you\u2019re not familiar with American football, you have to understand that going for two points is extremely difficult.\u00a0 It\u2019s essentially having to score a second touchdown.<\/p>\nIt was the right call.\u00a0 The way his defense was giving up points, coach Shannahan saw no other choice.\u00a0 And it worked!\u00a0 Denver scored the two extra points and Won the game, and avoided overtime.<\/p>\n
Everyone in the city of Denver celebrated (except for the San Diego players probably) and praised Shannahan.\u00a0 However, here is the key lesson:\u00a0<\/p>\n
What if Shannahand had failed?\u00a0 The odds were against him.\u00a0 It is rather difficult and rare to score two consecutive touchdowns to get the extra two points.\u00a0 Mike Shannahan had to be willing to fail.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cStick to your guns\u201d as they said in the old West.\u00a0 He had to be willing to live with the consequences of his decisions and the media\/fan scrutiny that came with it.<\/p>\nThis is what\u2019s missing from modern politics.\u00a0 The only people who show dedication to their cause are the organized religions zealots who basically want to kill the other side.\u00a0 The sane misplaced their balls.\u00a0 Only exception to this rule in this current campaign would be Ron Paul who does show balls of steel in opposing the Patriot Act, the Iraq War, and the Federal Reserve.\u00a0 (The latter being a topic that our modern day candidates wouldn\u2019t touch in a 100 years.)\u00a0 People with balls, however, don\u2019t get the major party nominations.\u00a0 Instead, we get the wolf in sheep\u2019s clothing who are socially reframed to fit our ideal images.<\/p>\n
Again, while I see a lesser evil each election, I am not a fan of either party.\u00a0 Both seem to serve their corporate masters who contribute loads of cash $$ to their campaigns.\u00a0 They don\u2019t care about you or me.\u00a0\u00a0 Neither really cares about the American public all that much.\u00a0 They forgot about the average American decades ago.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s interesting is to watch them jockey for positing and how they portray themselves each election cycle!!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The dog and pony show they put on and the strategists behind the scenes who plan each move.<\/strong><\/p>\nMcCain\u2019s campaign is to appeal to the common man.\u00a0 Again, he comes across as genuine and sincere while wearing his POW badge on his sleeve.\u00a0 He does not come across as a super intellectual, and that\u2019s probably because he is not one.\u00a0 (This is not implying that he is a moron like W.)\u00a0 He does seem to show more grit than Obama.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t seem\u00a0 like the most knowledgeable guy either, but boy, he seems like a good guy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Obama, on the other hand, has one equalizer:\u00a0 He has some charisma.\u00a0 Charisma can make up for a lot in social platforms.\u00a0 He does need to develop some balls, however.<\/p>\n
For the democrats to become more successful, they have to grow more balls, and at the same time appeal to the general public more.\u00a0 Perhaps this is the greatest time of irony in American history.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Democratic Party, traditionally known for more liberal and social ideas, Social welfare, universal health care, rewarding the middle class, exercising more taxes on the rich in the upper brackets, IS NOW being painted as elitist.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The republicans, known for giving tax breaks to the rich, creating bail outs for fortune 500 companies, and cutting down social programs ARE NOW being framed and portrayed as the party for the people; \u201cThe friend of the common man.\u201d<\/p>\n
This is once again, great social reframing. \u00a0You may ask, “Why do people accept such obvious carefully contrived shenanigans? \u00a0Well, mostly to their social-conditioning and self-image identification. \u00a0(But that’s a whole different topic for another day.)\u00a0<\/p>\n
One thing is for sure.\u00a0 It\u2019ll be interesting to see how this plays out.\u00a0 Let\u2019s do a recap. This is how they have presented themselves to the public thus far:<\/p>\n
Obama: The intellectual who thus far has shown that he perhaps he lacks balls. He represents change, however.\u00a0 Trying to capture people\u2019s hearts by filling the void that was left after John F. Kennedy was assassinated.\u00a0 He represents hope, as he is depicted as the outsider who is not part of the club. (ummm, not counting the handouts he receives.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He brings a fresh new perspective.\u00a0 He is half-black, and portrayed as \u201cBlack\u201d which will cost him votes in certain regions of the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0 He does have some Charisma, which is his great equalizer.\u00a0 He tried hard to liken\/associate himself to JFK.\u00a0<\/p>\n
McCain:\u00a0 The dedicated war hero\/POW, appeals to the common man, as he understands their plight.\u00a0 Not as smart as Obama, but probably has more balls.\u00a0 Comes across as a nice guy.\u00a0 Has a gun-touting bimbo for vice-president, which scares the heck out of a lot of people, even the hardcore McCain supporters. Yet she appeals to the religious zealots of the country who had a hand in electing Bush as well.<\/p>\n

So we have the fresh new face who presents change from politics as usual, versus the older grittier ex-Vietnam POW, who at age 72, has his last chance to run for Presidency.<\/p>\n
This is the image they have constructed and their handlers have carefully orchestrated.\u00a0 It\u2019s doubtful that this\u2019ll change between now and the election in 6 weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Who will win?<\/p>\n
