Inspirational New Song…….

So if you follow the blog consistently, you probably know that Bon Jovi is one of my all time favorite Bands.

They have a new album called “The Circle” and the major single on it is called “We Weren’t Born to Follow.”  In the Spirit of “Living On A Prayer,” and “It’s My Life” comes another song that promises hope and a melodic chant for getting off of your ass.

A throw back to the good old days, we even get a quick guitar solo from Richie Sambora sporting his usual Fender six string.  Tico does his usual fine job of aggressive work on the drums….

Yes, to some of you, it may be cheesy or too much of a “Good feeling” type of song, but even the most cynical jaded bastards amongst you will have to rock out to this one, and who knows, maybe even appreciate the image of Chinese Student standing up to the tanks at Tianamen square. (And yes I get that it’s not sophisticated songwriting, but it doesn’t stop it from being fun and motivational.)

Given the current rough economic times, there are a lot of people who are out of jobs, or have had their homes foreclosed.  Songs like this help get ya through the day sometimes…. (And my new favorite song to listen to before hitting the gym.)

So here is some optimism, especially for the sensitive ones who were flabbergasted over the Johnny stuff.

We Weren’t Born To Follow lyrics
Songwriters: Bon Jovi, Jon; Sambora, Richie;

This one goes out to the man who mines for miracles
This one goes out to the ones in need
This one goes out to the sinner and the cynical
This ain’t about no apology

This road was paved by the hopeless and the hungry
This road was paved by the winds of change
Walking beside the guilty and the innocent
How will you raise your hand when they call your name?

Yeah, yeah, yeah

We weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe

Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren’t born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe

Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah

This one’s about anyone who does it differently
This one’s about the one who cusses and spits
This ain’t about our livin’ in a fantasy
This ain’t about givin’ up or givin’ in

Yeah, yeah, yeah

We weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe

Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren’t born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah
We weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe
Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren’t born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah
Let me hear you say yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah

We weren’t born to follow, oh yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah)
We weren’t born to follow, oh yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah)

Why do you apologize for a “good feeling?” Do you believe that being positive and feeling good is unrealistic? Where would such a belief have come from? Is it serving you?
Are you concerned you’d lose clients and friends if you felt good? If so, are these the type of people that you want to be around?

  2. Casandra,

What are you talking about? How did you deduce & extrapolate all of that from me recommending a song I personally enjoy just released from one of my favorite bands?

Your post is a good example of “When Self-Help” attacks…..

Ps. Your comment has left the door open for so many jokes I can barely hold back, but I’ll be polite today. Is politeness serving me?
